Full-service public relations and strategic communications agency, APN Group,  welcomes the second cohort for a practical skills-based professional course on strategic communication rolled out this week.

Participants in the course, APN Greater than College Masterclass on Strategic Communication, will have two in-person sessions during the opening and closing sessions, the first of which was held on Wednesday, 24th June 2026. Subsequent sessions are slated to take place virtually.

According to Mr Lawrence Gikaru, Managing Director at APN Group and the lead trainer, the course provides work-ready practical skills training modules that enable communication professionals to not only polish what they do routinely, but also equip them with additional tools to implement strategic communication campaigns and plans that ensure communication and outreach efforts contribute towards the achievement of organisational or business results. In a word, the course enables participants to make a communication impact that achieves real return on investment for their organisations, companies or clients.

“The APN Greater Than College Masterclass on Strategic Communication is designed for professionals ready to transition from managing activities to shaping outcomes and providing strategic leadership. As this new learning journey begins, we look forward to the rich conversations, practical insights, meaningful peer learning experiences and transformative outcomes that will emerge over the coming weeks,” Mr Gikaru told participants for the second cohort of this course.

One of its co-facilitators, Mr Anthony Mugo says that the new cohort will benefit from deep learning and insights received during training of the inaugural cohort. That pioneering class set a key foundation for the Masterclass’ curriculum, which is accredited by the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

“As communication continues to evolve, the industry will need more leaders who can combine strategy, creativity, data and technology to drive impact. You,  as communication professionals, must be appreciated for your determination to learn new skills that enable you to take advantage of emerging digital capabilities of the world in which we now live,” he emphasised.

Upon joining the Masterclass, participants share an active campaign, issue or challenge that they are currently facing within their respective organisations, companies or client assignments. The course facilitates experiential learning that sharpens respective approaches to the implementation of assignments.

Guidance in this process is anchored on award-winning case studies based on APN Group’s repository that have won national, regional and continental accolades, for having executed and transformed the performance of a clientele drawn from government, private and non-governmental organisations over more than two decades. Every step of the training process involves practical lessons, group work, and case study analyses through which participants work in group sessions to fulfil, sharpen and improve to full execution-ready plans. The success of the training is measured by audience feedback from the intended campaigns.

Feedback for the premium course that attracts a KES 45,000 fee, has been invaluable and inspirational with greater emphasis placed on integration of new approaches, particularly harnessing Artificial Intelligence to drive efficiency and impact in elevating the place of strategic communication in enhancing corporate and organisational impact.
