Josiah MwangiJosiah has worked in the communications and public relations industry for the past 15 years. He has worked with global mining firms, leading FMCGs, development partners, global multinationals, and government agencies in several countries in Africa.  His skills include communication strategy development, campaign design, corporate communications, investor relations, crisis communications, media relations, CSR & Sustainability communications and stakeholder relationship management. 

 

Josiah has worked with organisations across Africa providing communication, investor relations, stakeholder relations and advisory support services. Some relevant organisations he’s worked with in the recent past include Konkola Copper Mines (Zambia), Rockefeller Foundation (communication and media relations support across Africa), Microsoft (stakeholder relations in various countries), ARM Cement (media relations and investor relations), Simba Cement Tanzania (advisory services), Shell (media relations and stakeholder engagement in Tanzania), Kenya’s Special Economic Zones Programme – World Bank (Strategy development), Kenya Livestock Insurance Programme – World Bank (Strategy Development), Amina Mohamed’s Campaign for AU Chair, among others.

 

In his career, he has overseen communication assignments for leading private sector multinationals including Uber, Unilever, Samsung, Coca-Cola, P&G, HP, Google, KCB Foundation, Lafarge Holcim, among others. He has also worked on assignments supported by various development agencies including the World Bank, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, USAID, IFC, SIDA, DANIDA, GIZ, the EU, TradeMark East Africa, among others. 

 

Communication campaigns he has been involved in the design and implementation have received industry Awards over the past few years. These include: Relaunch of Lifebuoy soap in Kenya, a social marketing programme for the World Food Programme, the 2009 Kenya Population Census, the Samsung NextHero Campaign, Tegua Siri ya Afya Tele for the World Food Programme, among others.   

 

A GRI certificate holder, Josiah has great interest in sustainability and the role communication plays in helping businesses understand that this plays a key role in determining their reputation. He’s interacted with sustainability programmes - the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan and Coca-Cola’s Live for A Difference, and Lafarge’s Building Better Cities – working with the local teams to bring the plans to life in Africa. 

 

An avid Rotarian, Josiah is a sports enthusiast and is also the immediate Vice Chairman of the Nairobi Basketball Association.
